Professor Brigid Gillespie is Conjoint Professor of Patient Safety in Nursing at Gold Coast University Hospital and Director of the NHMRC-funded Centre of Research Excellence in Wiser Wounds at Griffith University’s School of Nursing and Midwifery. A leading authority in surgical care and patient safety, Brigid’s research spans the entire care continuum, with a strong focus on enhanced recovery after surgery, patient participation in postoperative care and patient experience. She has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles, two edited books, and 10 book chapters, shaping evidence-based practice globally. Brigid has secured $11.9 million in competitive research funding, including five NHMRC grants, and continues to drive innovation in improving surgical outcomes and wound care.
