Philip Russo is the Director of Research, Nursing and Midwifery at Monash University, Victoria, and Director of Nursing Research at Cabrini Health. With a clinical background in infection prevention, his research centres on healthcare-associated infections and strengthening evidence-based practice. He is a past President of the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control (ACIPC) and has served on multiple national advisory committees supporting the Commonwealth Government. Philip is a recipient of a National Health and Medical Research Council Early Career Fellowship. In 2017, he led Australia’s first national Healthcare-Associated Infection Point Prevalence Survey in 34 years, identifying surgical site infections as the most common HAI among adult acute-care inpatients.
