We are actively inviting submissions for presentations to be reviewed by the Conference Committee for potential inclusion in the Conference program.

Presentation Formats
Please note: Authors of high-quality abstracts that are not selected for oral presentation may be invited to present a poster.
Abstracts can be submitted for the below presentation types:
- Oral Presentations (Research Abstracts)
A Research Oral will be for 12 minutes with an additional 2 minutes for audience Q&A. You may include a PowerPoint presentation.
- Oral Presentations (Case Study Abstracts)
Mini Oral Presentations will be for 8 minutes with an additional 2 minutes for audience Q&A. You may include a PowerPoint presentation. - Poster mini oral presentations (Research and Case Study Abstracts)
Posters will be on display for the duration of the conference. Presenters will present their posters during their allocated presentation time. You will be notified of your presentation time, which may occur during a meal break.
Please note: Authors of high quality abstract that are not selected for an oral presentation may be invited to present a poster.

Abstract Format
All submissions must be submitted online using the official Wounds Australia 2026 Conference templates. Please note that non-compliant abstracts will be rejected.
Research Abstract Submission (Oral or Poster mini oral) – must not exceed 250 words
Abstract Title – the title should adequately convey the content of the abstract
Research Abstract Body – Succinct descriptions of the clinical or laboratory research objective(s), study methods, results and conclusions must be presented in a clear and logical manner (see illustrative example below). Suggested headings for abstract sections are:

Case Study Abstract (Oral or Poster mini oral) – must not exceed 250 words
Abstract Title – the title should adequately convey the content of the abstract
Case Study Abstract Body – Succinct descriptions of the situation encountered, plan(s) of action implemented, materials or technology used, outcome(s) achieved and/or lessons learned must be presented in a clear and logical manner (see illustrative example below). Before submitting your abstract, case study and/or workshop submission, ensure you have read the submission guidelines carefully.
Submission Guidelines
Outlined below are the guidelines that must be followed when submitting your work to Wounds Australia 2026 Conference.
- All submissions must be in English. English is the official conference language, and all presentations must also be in English.
- Submission titles must not be longer than 15 words and must clearly indicate the content of the abstract.
- This is a blind review process; submissions must not include author names.
- Description of the project (e.g. background, methods results, and conclusions).
- Submissions for research and case study abstracts must not exceed 250 words, be clear and concise, highlight relevant aspects, findings and conclusions.
- Use Arial 11 font for body.
- Use Arial 16 font for title.
- Please bold any section headings (as below) in the body of the abstract.
- Do not include any images or tables.
- Short list of references (optional).
- Proprietary (trade) product names must not be used; only generic names of products are acceptable.
- Only standard abbreviations may be used within submissions.
- The abstract title, section headings and references are not included in the overall word count.
- Wounds Australia 2026 Conference is not accepting encore abstracts.
IMPORTANT

All abstract submissions must be received online through the abstract submission portal.
Accepted abstracts will be available in the Conference app. Wounds Australia reserves the right to reprint abstracts in its journal, Wound Practice and Research, authors who do not agree to this must advise Conference Organisers via program@woundsconference.org.
Abstract Awards
Accepted abstracts will be considered for judging in the following categories:
- Best New Investigator
- Best Oral Presenter
- Best Case Study
The judging panel will include members from the Scientific Committee, Research Committee, and session chairs. Additionally, we may draw judges from the pool of abstract presenters who are not seeking to be assessed in any specific category.
Award recipients will be announced at the closing ceremony, each award recipient will receive a certificate and a prize of $500 cash.
Abstract Review
- All submitted abstracts will be peer reviewed (blind review) by a subsection of the Wounds Australia 2026 Conference Committee and assessed against a set of standardised criteria. The decision of the committee is final.
- Incomplete abstracts or abstracts not written in English cannot be processed and will not be reviewed.
- No revisions are possible after the submission deadline – no exceptions.
Conditions of Acceptance
If accepted into the official program, the following conditions will apply:
- Oral presentations can only be presented by one author.
- Presenters must be a listed author on the submission.
- Accepted presenters must register, pay and attend the conference.
- Abstract submissions remain the property of Wounds Australia and the Scientific Committee reserves the right to publish and distribute.
Terms and Conditions
All abstract submitters are required to agree to the below terms and conditions prior to submitting their work:
- Submitting author hereby complies with the present data protection and privacy policy.
- Submitting authors declare that the submission is the original work of at least one author/presenter.
- No funding is provided to accepted presenters. Accepted presenters acknowledge they must register, pay and attend the conference for their work to be included in the official program.
- Submitting authors must declare the work described in the abstract has appropriate approval under local, ethical and animal experimentation rules.
- Submitting authors must declare that their work does not conflict with any existing copyright agreements with alternate publishers.
- Submitting authors must declare that they have read and understood the encore presentation stipulations and this abstract adheres to them.
- Submitting authors provide consent for their presentation materials to be used to assist Wounds Australia 2024 Conference, future conferences and on-demand content.

How do I submit?

Please read the abstract submission guidelines on this page prior to commencing your submission as this document contains important information. Please note, emailed submissions will not be accepted.
What type of presentations are available?
Oral presentations and poster presentations under Research, Case Study abstracts.
Do you accept encore presentations?
No we are not accepting encore presentations at Wounds Australia 2026 Conference.
What is an encore presentation?
An encore presentation is one where you have already presented or published the submitted work before. For example if you have presented the work at another wound event.
When will Conference registration open?
It is anticipated that registration will open in January 2026. Please ensure that you regularly check the conference website for updates.
When will authors be notified of submission acceptance or otherwise?
Authors will be notified of the outcome of their submission via email in March 2026.
Are presenters required to register for the conference?
Yes, as a presenter you are required to register and pay for the conference. Any presenters not registered for the conference will not have their abstract included in the program.
Are accepted abstract presenters eligible for earlybird registration rates?
If successful, your notification email will contain a an opportunity which will allow you to register at the early bird rate.
