The Wounds Australia 2024 Conference has been specifically designed to showcase the latest and most innovative scientific research, evidence-based case studies and clinical practice workshops.
We are actively seeking abstract submissions for evidence-based research presentations, case-studies and clinically focused workshops to be considered and assessed for inclusion in the Conference program.

Presentation Formats
Please note: Authors of high-quality abstracts that are not selected for oral presentation may be invited to present a poster.
Abstracts can be submitted for the below presentation types:
- Oral Presentations (Research Abstracts)
Research presentation length is 12 minutes and may include a PowerPoint presentation with an additional 2 minutes for audience Q&A.
- Oral Presentations (Case Study Abstracts)
Case Study presentation length is 7 minutes and may including a PowerPoint presentation. There will be no Q&A.
- Oral-Only Presentations (Workshop Abstracts)
Workshops length is 30 minutes and must include practical, hands on, evidence-based learning and take away tools to be applied in practice.
- E-Poster Mini Oral Presentations
Poster presentations will be asked to present a digital poster. Posters will be on display for the duration of the conference on the e-poster stations located in the Exhibition Hall. Presenters will ‘present’ their posters during their allocated presentation time. You will be notified of your presentation time, which may occur during a meal break.

Abstract Format
All submissions must be submitted online using the official Wounds Australia 2024 Conference templates. Please note that non-compliant abstracts will be rejected.
Research (Oral or Poster) – must not exceed 250 words
Abstract Title – the title should adequately convey the content of the abstract
Research Abstract Body – Succinct descriptions of the clinical or laboratory research objective(s), study methods, results and conclusions must be presented in a clear and logical manner (see illustrative example below). Suggested headings for abstract sections are:

- Results
- Conclusions
- References (optional)
Case Study (Oral or Poster) – must not exceed 250 words
Abstract Title – the title should adequately convey the content of the abstract
Case Study Abstract Body – Succinct descriptions of the situation encountered, plan(s) of action implemented, materials or technology used, outcome(s) achieved and/or lessons learned must be presented in a clear and logical manner (see illustrative example below). Suggested headings for abstract sections include:
- Situation
- Action(s) taken/treatment(s) provided
- Outcome(s)
- Lesson(s) learned
Workshop (Oral Only) – must not exceed 1000 words
Abstract Title – the title should adequately convey the content of the abstract
Workshop Abstract Body – Succinct descriptions of the research problem/topic, its significance, learning objectives, abstract details, workshop interactivity and room/equipment needs. Must be presented in a clear and logical manner (see illustrative example below). Suggested headings for abstract sections are:

Before submitting your abstract, case study and/or workshop submission, ensure you have read the submission guidelines carefully.
Submission Guidelines
Outlined below are the guidelines that must be followed when submitting your work to Wounds Australia 2024 Conference.
- All submissions must be in English. English is the official conference language, and all presentations must also be in English.
- Submission titles must not be longer than 15 words and must clearly indicate the content of the abstract.
- This is a blind review process; submissions must not include author names.
- Description of the project (e.g. background, methods results, and conclusions).
- Submissions for research and case study abstracts must not exceed 250 words, be clear and concise, highlight relevant aspects, findings and conclusions.
- Submissions for Workshop Abstracts must not exceed 1000 words, be clear and concise, highlight relevant learning outcomes and agenda.
- Use Arial 11 font for body.
- Use Arial 16 font for title.
- Please bold any section headings (as below) in the body of the abstract.
- Do not include any images or tables.
- Short list of references (optional).
- Proprietary (trade) product names must not be used; only generic names of products are acceptable.
- Only standard abbreviations may be used within submissions.
- The abstract title, section headings and references are not included in the overall word count.
- Wounds Australia 2024 Conference is not accepting encore abstracts.
IMPORTANT

All abstract submissions must be received online through the abstract submission portal.
Accepted abstracts will be available in the Conference app. Wounds Australia reserves the right to reprint abstracts in its journal, Wound Practice and Research, authors who do not agree to this must advise Conference Organisers via program@woundsconference.org.
Abstract Review
- All submitted abstracts will be peer reviewed (blind review) by a subsection of the Wounds Australia 2024 Conference Committee and assessed against a set of standardised criteria. The decision of the committee is final.
- Incomplete abstracts or abstracts not written in English cannot be processed and will not be reviewed.
- No revisions are possible after the submission deadline – no exceptions.
Conditions of Acceptance
If accepted into the official program, the following conditions will apply:
- Oral presentations can only be presented by one author.
- Presenters must be a listed author on the submission.
- Accepted presenters must register, pay and attend the conference.
- Abstract submissions remain the property of Wounds Australia and the Scientific Committee reserves the right to publish and distribute.
Terms and Conditions
All abstract submitters are required to agree to the below terms and conditions prior to submitting their work:
- Submitting author hereby complies with the present data protection and privacy policy.
- Submitting authors declare that the submission is the original work of at least one author/presenter.
- No funding is provided to accepted presenters. Accepted presenters acknowledge they must register, pay and attend the conference for their work to be included in the official program.
- Submitting authors must declare the work described in the abstract has appropriate approval under local, ethical and animal experimentation rules.
- Submitting authors must declare that their work does not conflict with any existing copyright agreements with alternate publishers.
- Submitting authors provide consent for their presentation materials to be used to assist Wounds Australia 2024 Conference, future conferences and on-demand content.
If your abstract is accepted, you will then be required to submit a short video presentation. Authors whose abstracts are not selected for oral presentation may be invited to present a poster. Format is dependent on several factors including program requirements, and Wounds Australia reserves the right to determine presentation formats accordingly.
