Empowering Patients in Wound Care: Clinical Attitudes and Engagement Education Symposium

Session outline

The importance of patient empowerment in wound management is underscored by our ageing demographic and dispersed population. This education session will focus on enhancing patient involvement and fostering positive clinical engagement in wound care management.

Learning outcomes

  • Comprehend the components and functions of shared care.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing approaches to patient self-care in chronic wound management, considering the variations observed globally.
  • Apply the insights from research to identify patients who could benefit from greater involvement in their own care within a clinical setting.
  • Assess the potential impact of implementing shared care approaches on patient outcomes and healthcare delivery in various healthcare systems.

Target audience

  • Nurses – primary care, community and hospital
  • Allied health professionals – podiatrists
  • Pharmacists
  • General Practitioners

Agenda

This symposium showcases 3 subject matter experts on shared care who specialise in 3 different areas. Our first speaker is focused on residential aged care and community, the second is working in academia and the third specialises in the acute care setting. Each will present the topics as included in the agenda then discuss how shared care will continue to evolve to meet society needs. There will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.
