Jodie Deakin

Jodie is a Nursing Academic at Southern Cross University within both the Bachelor & Master’s Program. Jodie has a passion for teaching and promoting a sense of psychological safety to enhance student learning. Jodie’s background as a Clinical and Registered Nurse includes the fields of Intensive Care, Peri-Operative services, Oncology, Haematology, Cancer care education and Clinical Research Trials including the EEPOC Trial a multi-site Randomised Control Trial. Jodie is highly motivated and committed to combining advanced clinical practice, education and research to foster patient safety and improved healthcare outcomes.
Currently, undertaking a PhD with Griffith University, Jodie’s area of research encompasses Pressure Injury Prevention (PIP) education in hospitalised patients: A multi-method study of medical and surgical nurse’s education practices; The PALLADIAN study. In addition, as an emerging Nurse Researcher, Jodie’s dedicated research priorities include nurse education practices, patient health literacy and partnering with end-users in collaborative co-design.
