Associate Professor Sharon Latimer is a Registered Nurse with 25 years clinical experience in medicine, gerontology, rehabilitation, and dermatology. She is a Principal Research Fellow in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Griffith University. In 2016, she completed a PhD in patient participation in pressure injury prevention. She is globally recognised for her patient safety research in pressure injury prevention and end-of-life wounds, also called end-stage skin failure. In 2023, she led a team of researchers who developed an end-of-life wound assessment tool for use in dying patients. Her research has informed Australian and International clinical practice guidelines and clinical standards. Sharon has over 70 peer-reviewed publications and is a Wound Practice and Research Journal Editorial Board member.
