Kelly McGrath

Kelly commenced her PhD at Charles Darwin University in 2025 to investigate disparate health outcomes and costs of care for people with chronic wounds living in rural/remote Australia. Her research will also explore determinants of these disparities and opportunities to make effective changes to chronic wound care, thereby improving treatment, outcomes and quality of life for those affected.

Kelly McGrath is a health services, implementation science and biomedical researcher with over 25 years of experience in the health sector. Her research has directly impacted private virtual hospital design, access to mental health services, mental health service operations, and development of new knowledge regarding the etiology of Parkinson’s Disease and several types of cancer.

As a resident of remote Queensland and manager of a rural and remote mental health service, she has in-depth knowledge of the barriers and facilitators to accessing specialist healthcare in geographically isolated areas of Australia.
