Julianne graduated as a nurse from St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne in 1978 and has worked across public and private care in regional Australia in acute and community roles. After 25 years in nursing, she completed a Master of Social Work focused on health inequities. She founded the Amaranth Foundation, a not‑for‑profit delivering health and disability services across the Murrumbidgee and Riverina. Awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2017 for community palliative care, she has contributed to the Mental Health Medicare Review Taskforce and serves on NSW Health’s ACI Wounds and Frailty initiatives and the Murrumbidgee PHN Border Clinical Council. She wrote the Commonwealth‑funded Listen Acknowledge Respond training program. Named Albury Woman of the Year in 2024, she co‑founded Palliative Care Social Work Australia, is completing a PhD on rural palliative care practice, and was 2024 National President of the AASW. Her work is strongly grounded in compassionate, person‑centred care.
